Maybe you are exhausted from waking up drenched in sweat. Maybe you worry about a hot flash in the middle of a meeting. Or perhaps you simply miss feeling like yourself.
Start with one appointment. We'll discuss what menopause has been like for you and begin hypnosis when appropriate.
$150 for a 50-minute session. Book and pay online. No package required.
Menopause is a normal biological transition, but that does not make its symptoms easy to live with. The disrupted nights, changing energy, irritability, and constant anticipation can affect work, relationships, and confidence. You deserve to have those difficulties taken seriously.
There is the physical change. And there is what it does to your day.
You may already have a good medical professional and a plan for your menopausal health. Yet you can still find yourself watching for the next hot flash, worrying about another sleepless night, or feeling overwhelmed by changes you cannot predict. Those responses can become burdens of their own.
This is where I work with you. I use individualized hypnotherapy to address stress, distress, anticipation, and learned responses associated with menopausal symptoms. I want to understand what is happening in your life, what you have tried, and what you would like to change. The work is practical, focused on your own goals, and intended to end when it is no longer needed.
Why consider hypnosis? The research is worth knowing.
Clinical hypnosis is not simply being told to relax. Researchers have tested structured hypnosis approaches for menopausal hot flashes and night sweats, with encouraging results. The strongest evidence concerns vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes and night sweats); evidence for sleep and anxiety is promising, but less extensive.
Hypnosis works alongside your menopause care
The Menopause Society recommends clinical hypnosis as an evidence-supported approach to hot flashes and night sweats. The 2026 American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists guideline also suggests clinical hypnosis, while noting that the quality of the evidence is limited. [1, 2]
Can I use hypnosis if I take hormone replacement therapy (HRT)? Yes. The word nonhormonal simply means hypnosis does not involve taking hormones. It does not mean you must stop HRT, avoid HRT, or choose between hypnosis and medical care.
If you take HRT or use other prescribed treatments, continue following your healthcare professional's advice. Hypnotherapy can be an additional way to address the stress, worry, and learned responses that can make this stage of life harder. You and your prescriber make medication decisions; I do not prescribe or change them.
What two major trials found
In a study of 187 postmenopausal women, five weekly clinical hypnosis sessions were associated with a 74% reduction in self-reported hot flash frequency at 12 weeks, compared with 17% in the structured-attention control group. These are average changes measured in that study, not an expected result for every patient. [3]
In a newer study of 250 women, a six-week self-hypnosis program reduced a combined hot flash frequency-and-severity score by 53.4%, versus 40.9% with a white-noise comparison. Women using hypnosis also reported less interference with daily activities at six weeks. The between-group advantage was smaller at the 12-week follow-up, an important reason to avoid promising lasting relief. [4]
Other clinical studies have examined hot flashes in breast cancer survivors and related difficulties such as anxiety and disturbed sleep. The findings are encouraging, but studies differ in quality, populations, and hypnosis protocols. Several papers also report additional analyses of the same study participants. [5–10]
What we can work on together
- The stress and anticipation surrounding hot flashes or night sweats
- The worry that can build around sleep and the following day
- Feeling on edge, frustrated, or unlike yourself
- Learned reactions to bodily sensations and unpredictable situations
- Rebuilding ease and confidence in everyday routines
My aim is to help you feel more at ease in your daily life, with attention to the concerns that matter most to you. Responses vary, and there are no guarantees. I will not ask you to give up effective medical care or promise to change your hormone levels.
What working with me looks like
We begin with a 50-minute working appointment. I listen to your concerns, explore when the difficulties occur and what you have already tried, and use hypnosis during that first visit when appropriate. I recommend a follow-up after the initial hypnosis experience, generally within 72 hours, so we can discuss your response and decide what makes sense next.
Our work follows a clear arc: discovery, concentrated transformation, and integration into everyday life. We review progress and stop when further sessions are unnecessary. Read about the process.
Alongside your medical care, not instead of it
Menopause and its symptoms deserve proper medical evaluation and management. My appointments are for hypnotherapy addressing associated stress, distress, and learned responses—not medical examinations, hormonal treatment, diagnosis, psychotherapy, or treatment of an underlying condition. Continue care with your own healthcare professionals. New or unexplained bleeding, severe or unusual symptoms, and questions about medication or hormone therapy should be discussed with them.
Questions you may have
Can I have hypnosis while taking HRT?
Yes. Hypnosis does not contain hormones, but it can be used alongside HRT and other prescribed menopause treatments. You do not need to stop or change medication to have hypnotherapy. Any medication decisions belong with your prescribing clinician.
Is hypnosis appropriate if my biggest problem is sleep or anxiety?
We can discuss the stress, anticipation, and learned responses surrounding those concerns. Evidence is strongest for menopausal hot flashes; studies of associated sleep disturbance and anxiety are promising but more limited. I do not provide psychiatric or psychological treatment.
Will I need a package of sessions?
No. Sessions are booked and prepaid individually at $150 for 50 minutes. We review your response and goals rather than committing you to a fixed package.
Can my menopause practitioner refer me?
Yes. I welcome referrals and work within a clearly defined hypnotherapy scope. Your practitioner remains responsible for your medical treatment. Information for healthcare professionals.
You don't have to keep putting the distress on hold. If menopause is affecting your nights, confidence, or everyday routines, I can work with you on the part of the experience hypnosis is suited to address. One appointment is a practical place to begin.
